PMJ Masonry was born in 2007, out of a practical need for providing specialised services to the construction industry. Our founder, Paddy, had been immersed in the trade for years, starting out as a stonemason before gradually moving up the ladder to site management.

It was during his tenure with other masonry businesses that the seeds of PMJ were planted. Identifying a gap in the market for specialised stonemasonry work, Paddy took the leap and founded PMJ, initially focusing on smaller projects. However, it wasn’t long before the company’s expertise caught the attention of larger contractors, who sought PMJ’s services for their projects.

Today, PMJ stands as a testament to Paddy’s vision and determination. With a turnover in the millions, and a carefully curated team of dedicated experts, PMJ continues to thrive. But beyond business success, Paddy’s proudest achievement lies in his dedication to industry and local communities, including the Worshipful Company of Masons.

Paddy’s love for sport also runs deep, having spent a decade playing professional rugby full time for Featherstone Rovers, Leeds Rugby Club, Doncaster Rovers, and York City Knights Rugby Club. He also held a 5-year advisory supporting role at York Rugby league, before recently moving to Featherstone Rovers to take up a board position as Vice Chairman.

Martyn is responsible for all things commercial and contractual within the business. He brings a wealth of expertise to our team, with a remarkable 33-year tenure in commercial management at a Tier 1 contractor.

His journey with PMJ began long before his official role, providing invaluable advice to Paddy since the inception of the business back in 2007. Martyn’s thorough knowledge of cost and value forecasting, risk management and financial problem-solving has earned him respect from principal contractors and designers alike.

Beyond the office, Martyn’s passion lies in volleyball, where he is not just a player but a Volleyball England Referee. He enjoys every aspect of the game, including beach volleyball, only wishing he took up the sport when he was younger.

Matt joined the business in 2012 and oversees the pre-construction function, as well as the delivery of all our major on-site projects. He boasts exceptional technical and buildability knowledge, and his expertise has seen him progress from site operations to senior management during his time at PMJ.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys downtime with his young family and is an avid follower of numerous sports.

Graham has overall responsibility for contract work across Scotland and the north of England.

Entering the construction industry as a Graduate Engineer in 1985, he spent the first ten years of his career working for Tier 1 main contractors, before moving into stonework subcontracting. His 30 years in the stone industry has seen him undertaken projects across the UK and Channel Isles, including a notable decade-long stint in London, working on major projects.

Graham possesses vast knowledge of all aspects of stonemasonry and is technically and commercially astute, leading on pre-construction advice, programming, logistics and safe systems of work. While his immediate geographical remit is the Scottish office, Graham also provides valuable support to his York-based colleagues, lending his expertise to projects nationwide.

Away from work, Graham enjoys dog walking across the picturesque hills of Perthshire and has a bit of an addiction to collecting books on Scottish history, and enjoys listening to current affairs podcasts.

Ben holds overall responsibility for natural stone design and technical drawings, together with manufacture and build information.

Ben has 15 years of experience working with 2D and 3D CAD packages. He also part-owned a CAD services business for a decade, offering support to PMJ as well as various other businesses within the construction and manufacturing industries.

In his spare time, Ben enjoys spending time with young family, loves playing squash, and has recently taken up playing the drums.

Allison manages PMJ’s finance department, with key responsibilities including invoicing, supply chain payments and payroll.

She is an experienced chartered accountant, who after graduating trained in audit and moved on to managing within a “Big 4” accountancy firm.

Outside of work, Allison enjoys her down time with her young family and supporting her local school and parish council. She also enjoys participating in regular exercise classes.

At PMJ, Jasmine manages our commercial operations, develops and maintains key client relationships whilst driving our growth initiatives. Her strong background in business and economics, highlighted by her first-class degree and being awarded the Dean’s Prize, contributes significantly to the company’s success.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling to new countries, diving into thriller books, and has a strong passion for rugby league. She also provides support within the Finance Department at Featherstone Rovers, where she combines her passion for rugby with her financial expertise.

Drew manages all aspects of PMJ’s procurement, overseeing sourcing needs from both UK and European suppliers of natural stone.

With 20 years of diverse management experience under his belt, including a decade dedicated to purchase management, Drew brings a wealth of procurement experience to our team.

Outside of work, Drew is passionate about grass roots sports, coaching both youth rugby and football.

Ronnie manages our Estimating Dept. within PMJ. His significant knowledge of stonework benefits the commercial, logistical, and technical matters associated with our tenders & the budget advice we offer.

 Initially entering the construction industry as a Graduate Builder in 1989, he spent the 1st decade of his career working for Tier 1 Main contractors before moving into & specialising in stone. Ronnie’s 25 years in the stone industry have included projects across the whole of the UK and Ireland.

 Outside of work, Ronnie enjoys spending time with the family and walking his 3-legged Staffy. He is also a devoted football fan albeit solely as a spectator these days.
