PMJ Masonry were appointed as a principal contractor in delivering traditional hand-set natural stone cladding to a mosque and community facility funded by the Issa Foundation, a family charity run by billionaire EG Group owners, brothers Mohsin and Zuber Issa. The iconic buildings included spectacular elevations featuring archways and pillars, bringing this seventh local mosque to the forefront of the community.

Scope specifics:

  • Traditional hand-set natural stone cladding
  • Inner leaf blockwork & internal walls
  • 2 buildings – mosque & community centre

Key challenges:

We successfully installed 5-point arch spring stones, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic precision. We also built 25-meter-high double minarets at the roof level, overcoming significant engineering and logistical challenges.

Greatest achievement from this project:

Bullseye framed windows add a fascinating architectural element while maximising on light and ventilation. Distinctive vaulted arches lead through to a grand open entrance courtyard where visitors of the mosque can admire the grand architecture that stands before them.

The result:

The eye-catching building now stands as a visual masterpiece, enjoyed by visitors of the mosque and its surrounding community.
